ラモーの音楽を当時のバロック音楽の中で聴くと、独特の味わいがあります。クラブサン（＝チェンバロ）の響きが厚いのです。ご存知の通り、クラブサンはピアノと違って強弱をつけるのが難しい楽器ですが、それでも「タンブーラン」や「キュクロペス」には大変な力強さが感じられます。ラモーのほうがバッハより2歳年長ですが、しばしばハイドンやモーツァルトを先取りしていると言われています。ラモーは1722年（バッハ37歳）に「和声論」を出版しています。「旋律は和声から生まれる」というのが彼の基本的な音楽観でした。彼は時代より50年先の音楽をつくっていた、と言えると思います。

ご紹介するＣＤは大クープランとのカップリングです。一般にはラモーよりクープランのほうの評価が高いのかもしれませんが、私にはラモーのほうが随分面白く思われます。このふたりを比較して聴けるという点でも興味深いと思います。
