辞典を読むことを趣味!? にしている人に向いています。
少なくとも兄貴分?の「岩波 数学辞典」に比べれば、読むことが可能です。
「あいうえお順」で引きやすく、かつ読みやすいと思います。

一生つかうことを考えば、値段もやすい?のでは、、、。

　「数学辞典」に比べると、「入門」と謳われているだけあって、内容も適度に易しい。数学愛好家や学生向きの辞典。単に意味が載っているだけではなく、解説も詳しい。読める辞典としては、例えば大阪書籍の「新数学事典」は「読む事典」であり、読んで楽しむ分にはそちらの方が良い。しかし、事典ではなくて辞典なので、語句それぞれについて調べるのはこっち。勉強にもオススメ。
　ちょっと数学の知識が必要な人には、この辞典が最良の選択だと思う。

おそらく数学ほど、理解程度の差が本を開けたときに響いてくる学問はないと思う。概念そのものがちんぷんかんぷんでは、定理も応用もあったものではない。岩波書店は、現代数学の入門シリーズ、現代数学の基礎シリーズ、現代数学の展開シリーズ(残念ながら途中で刊行中止になったが）と意欲的に数学に取り組んできている。その後で出版されたこの辞典、高校程度の数学は理解し、それ以上のことを理解しようとする人のためのものであると思われ、専門的に数理に取り組む人にはおそらく易しすぎるだろう(自分はその範疇に入らないので推定です）。各綱目については易しく解きほぐされてあり、ある程度ならこの本だけで役立つようになっている。つまりは読むことのできる辞典である。そして、この先にどんなことがあるのか、どういう世界が展開してくるのかについても軽く触れてくれてあるのがよい。数学世界の初心者コンパス。
