自分たちが制定した賞を与えて権威付けし、本を出させる出版元。出版業界と一蓮托生のため、おかしいこともおかしいと言えない評論家。撮りそこなった写真でさえ、芸術表現のひとつと考える読者……

メディア・リテラシーの教材に格好の一冊。この意味で星五つ。写真集としては星一つ。

　佐内正史の名を初めて意識したのは『tea spoon. Vol.2 fanciful ~featuring 綾瀬はるか~ 』。
　ピンぼけ写真の多さに怒りながら、ネット検索。「木村伊兵衛写真賞受賞」だの、「ＣＤジャケット写真撮影多数」だの、評論家やファンの賞賛の声もあって、びっくり。

　さらに、『ロマンチック』を本屋さんで手に取ってみました。

　感想は、「従来の商業写真に飽き飽きした人たちから、批判票を集めているのかな」。

　通常、写真家やらフォトグラファーが撮った写真は、ピント、露出、構図はきっちり。手ぶれがあるように見えてもそれは計算尽くで入れたものだし、ピントの甘いのだってソフトフォーカスレンズ等で技巧を凝らしたもの。
　こちらは、ピントは「悪い」というより、あまり合わせる気もないみたい。「そっち向けてシャッターを切ってみました」みたいな写真も多数。強引に深読みしなければ、ただの素人写真にしか見えない。

　巷にあふれているのは、ナントカ味のドレッシングたっぷり、盛りつけにも工夫を凝らし、プチトマトやらパセリやらが上に乗ったサラダ。ラベルを見て、着色料やら甘味料といった添加物を確認しないといけない感じ。　
　佐内正史の写真は、もいできただけののキュウリ一本といったところか。好きな人は「この素朴さがいい」とか「いらぬ手は加えていないので、安心できる」というのだろうと思う。

　で、結局買いませんでした。新書版サイズと勝手に思いこんでいたら、本当に文庫本サイズ。大半はページ一枚の三分の一ぐらいが写真で、残りは余白!?　“名刺サイズ”の写真ばっかりだから、見る方も心理的負担がない…のかもしれないけど、鑑賞するというのも難しい。

文庫本サイズの、ポケットに入るような写真集を作りたい
というような気持ちはなんとなくわかる

けど、それをやるなら上製本にしないといかんのやろうなーと
思いました
文庫本よりも、モレスキンの手帳を目指したほうが
面白い写真集になるんだろうな、と。

サイズについてはそんな感じ

印刷品質、紙の品質に関しては、これまた製本とも関わって
くるのだろうけれども、結果的に見ればいろいろの思惑が
うまく作用しなかった、と言わざるを得ない、ちぐはぐな
印象。違うサイズだったら、縦横比だったら、違う印象にも
なったかもな、みたいな

余白も、ゆるい。ぬるい。

ただ、とはいえ、佐内の写真は、良いもんだ。
気になるものにレンズを向けて、ちょっとだけ考えてみたりして撮る。
