「道徳」は世の中がどうあって欲しいかを示すものである。一方で、経済学は世の中が「実際にはどうであるか」を表している。

本著のデータによれば、日本の大相撲では八百長が存在していることを明確に示している。八百長報道があった後は、7勝7敗で千秋楽を迎えた力士の、8勝6敗の力士に対する勝率はいつもの80％ではなくて、50％になる。つまり八百長報道があった直後においてのみ、力士間の取引が成立せず「実力」で勝負するのである。その他、常識や希望的観測が間違っている例が本著には列記されている。知的生産を行う人、ビジネスマンは必読であると言えよう。

アメリカの社会の特に負の側面（犯罪、事故、経済格差）等について、統計を活用し分析して
おり大変楽しめます。
子供のいる家庭では銃よりもプールでの事故のほうが多い。名前は裕福な家庭から流行が始まる。
等日本人には見えていない内容が多く、アメリカ社会の断面を浮き彫りにしています。
また、冒頭では日本相撲の千秋楽で七勝七敗の力士の勝率がいかに高いかを解説しています。
しかし、これは近年流行の行動経済学というよりも社会学に近く、表題にはやや疑問を感じます。

前作（オリジナル版）は2006年のビジネス本のヒット作であり、
以後似たような「〜経済学」というタイトルの本が何冊も出版される事になったほど。

果たして本書は、その前作の内容を加筆修正したものであり、前作を読みそこなった人には
無条件でオススメ。
個人的には100P強の追加部分も面白く、これだけでも読んだ価値があったというもの。

むしろ、追加部分の原稿をもっと集めて、その部分だけで1冊にまとめてもらえたら、
文句なしに大プッシュなのだが。

自分的には前作とかぶる部分が多いので星4つが妥当なのだが、1冊の本としては
やはり文句なしに満点かと。
