越川 禮子
江戸しぐさ語りべの会主宰。(株)インテリジェンス・サービス取締役社主。1926年東京都生まれ。86年にアメリカの老人問題をルポした『グレイパンサー』が、潮賞ノンフィクション部門優秀賞を受賞。その後、江戸しぐさの伝承者故芝三光氏と出会い、江戸人の魅力に取りつかれた。『江戸の繁盛しぐさ』を上梓後は、唯一の江戸しぐさの語りべとして講演・執筆活動に精力的に努めている(本データはこの書籍が刊行された当時に掲載されていたものです)

江戸時代は時代劇でも数え切れないほど舞台として登場します。
それは扱いやすい時代であることのほかに、もっとも親しまれる時代、人々の心をひきつける時代であるからでしょう。
日本だけでなく世界の人からも、「江戸時代の文化・生活様式」というものは憧れのまとなのだそうです。

さて何がそんなに魅力的なのか。
これらをマナーとして紹介したのがこの本です。
漫画で紹介されていますし、1つ1つの話が長くないので読みやすい。
専門的になりすぎず、さらりと紹介されていて理解しやすいです。
学校で取り上げる教材にもいいのではないでしょうか？
また、江戸時代だけを手放しで褒めるのではなく、「現代のここは良いところ」としっかり比較してあるのもうれしいところ。(残念ながら全部ではありません)

なるほど、江戸時代が広く愛される理由も納得できるというものです。

マンガで描かれているだけにわかりやすい。でも奥まで迫れるかというと少し難し。あくまでも入門編ということなのでしょう。江戸しぐさが全て現代で通用するわけではないし、現代には現代の生き方があるということに気づかせてくれる本です。

江戸時代の人の、知恵がマンガを通じて、理解できます。相手を思う心、しぐさが忘れられている我々の生活、再度自分の行動も振り返り、先人に学び、明日からの言動に活用したいです。
